| Sumario: | [EN] Lime and plaster were two fundamental materials used in the historical construction of Valencia. For centuries, buildings and different written documents have reflected their use. This article aims to provide a brief historical review of their supply, from the 14th to the 19th century, considering everything from their extraction to their sale, including their production and trade. Information about the principal deposits, manufacturing process and the regulation of its urban market has been obtained from bibliographic and archival sources. Furthermore, it discovered that, despite the abundance of natural resources, there were periods in which lime was scarce and, in others, plaster was not economical. |
