The research shows that in neither case did the freezing during the crisis of this labour importation procedure result in a fall in the hiring of foreign workers, as agriculture entrepreneurs reacted to the shutting down of GECCO by organising their own private programmes. By examining statistical sources and using 43 in-depth interviews with migrants from both regions this process is analysed along with the impact of the crisis situation on the migrants themselves.[ES] Este artículo aborda las consecuencias que ha tenido la crisis económica de 2008 sobre la gestión colectiva de contrataciones en origen (GECCO) en el sector agrícola de las provincias de Huelva y Lleida, así como sobre sus trabajadores migrantes. La investigación demuestra que la congelación durante la crisis de este procedimiento de importación de mano de obra no ha supuesto en ambos casos una caída en la contratación de trabajadores extranjeros, puesto que los empresarios agrícolas reaccionaron al cierre de la GECCO organizando sus propios programas privados.
