Sumario:In This thesis attempts to explain the transformations of collective in morphology and typology from a cross-cultural viewpoint.Four different types of buildings and communities are classified by time axis, and their spatial changes are analyzed and mapped.Analyze how traditional Chinese housing transfer from collective to private living in different moments. Neighbors were from acquaintances to strangers. Through case study of contemporary projects, this paper analyzes four different types of collective housing projects made by pioneering architects. I summarize how they re-find the collective social situation of neighbors lost.Re-thinking how to balance the private and collective spaces in modern community design.Finally, a new community system vision is proposed, hoping to balance the economy, population, privavite and collective, public spaces.I proposed the concept of community rooms and applied it to the proposal.
