Sumario:This urban history research is devoted to tramway planning in medium-sized cities in the European countries of real socialism, especially in the GDR, CSR and USSR, in the 1960s and 1970s. The research subject is the tramway as a tool of urban transport and its relationship to urban structure and morphology.The objectives of the research focus on understanding the relationships between transport planning and urban planning, as well as the differences and similarities in the planning of the urban model of the so-called "socialist city". In conclusion, it was defined that the tramway had a low level of development, there were quite a few differential decisions within the study countries, there was sufficient knowledge of the Western experience and there was a high level of influence of the urban model on transport decisions.
