Descripción
Sumario:[EN] This student residence project is located in El Carmen neighborhood of Valencia, specifically in its northern boundary next to the Turia Garden. The site is characterized by its historical condition of urban edge, coming from the layout of the old medieval wall. The proposed new building seeks to regenerate a large block of houses, abandoned in recent decades. The residence is made up of different pieces connected to each other that try to recompose and complete the urban fabric of this area, respecting as much as possible the historical pre-existences of the place. The new volumes are inserted into the site, generating a sequence of squares that try to connect urban fragments, articulating and improving the permeability of the neighborhood with the rest of the city. This ground floor contains common functions that are shared between the residence and the neighborhood, blurring the boundary between public and private space, becoming an urban node or neighborhood facility. The residence has a university character, linking with its various stages through different types of housing cells. These aggregations, with different metrics, range from the most basic to the most complete units, thus covering a wide range of profiles and being adaptable to other types of residential functions. The functions of the building are completed by some common spaces such as dining room, cafeteria, stores, sports area, study rooms, common rooms, laundry or the circulations themselves, all of them conceived as spaces for relationship and socialization. In conclusion, this community residential project is conceived as a great meeting space where to share experiences, knowledge or leisure activities from the most urban scale corresponding to the public space, to the most domestic scale of the cells themselves.
