Descripción
Sumario:Based on the project that links the Gregoria Artacho Public School of Infant and Primary Education and the Virgen del Valle Residence for the Elderly, research has been conducted in order to determine both the degree of incidence of the service-learning methodology (ApS) in the training of the students as well as the effect on the emotional and social well-being of the elderly. The general objective of the research is to understand the impact that the framework of the ApS has on children and the elderly. This is a qualitative study using in-depth interview techniques and document analysis. In the first phase, the specific objective is to gather information on the benefits of intergenerational interaction. Therefore, in the interviews, questions were asked about personal perceptions. It should be noted that the ApS project fosters the development of self-esteem in the residents as a result of the affection and bonding that arises between them and the students. The activities carried out imbued meaning to the residents' activities, organizing and encouraging their routines. On the other hand, the tenderness and dedication observed in the students' activities show that they are being trained in values since they are experiencing situations that are very different from those they usually experience in their usual environments: family, school and spare time.
