| Sumario: | Dendrochronological results of three new cronologies elaborated on Mountain pine (Pinus uncinata Mill. ex Mirb.) in the Valle de Conangles (Central Pyrenees) are presented. All the statistics show that they are fairly in agreement with those observed in other series in ecologically similar sites or comparable geographical locations. The pattern of variation of the statistic analyzed is related to an altitudinal gradient, in correspondence with the ecological conditions (forest interior, timber limit, and upper tree limit). The analysis of variance has proven the importance of at least two cronologies for future dendroclimatological studies. All the series show a high degree of synchronization, although the curves cannot easily be matched visually. This agreement is also maintained when these series were compared to another series over a large distance. This seems to demonstrate the existence of a macroclimatic component held in common, which in Mediterranean areas is related to summer drouhts, even on subalpine sites. |
