Descripción
Sumario:Penguin Diet Dataset-v2 is a comprehensive, curated compilation of dietary data for 17 of the 19 currently recognized penguin species. It was assembled through a systematic review of peer-reviewed scientific literature. Covering the period from 1980 to 2019 and spanning 149 locations worldwide, the dataset includes 2,749 dietary records with both qualitative and quantitative information on prey types. Each entry is accompanied by metadata such as geographic coordinates, sampling periods, seasons, and life stages. This provides valuable insights into species-specific dietary patterns and broader ecological trends. The dataset is an open-access resource designed to support research on penguin feeding ecology and to identify knowledge gaps across species, regions, and time periods.
