Socrates’ skepticism towards mythological tales, the idea that only a single canon of universal virtue existed that was applicable to both holy and human matters, as well as the separation of piety and justice from the divine will, led him to undermine the basis of Greek religion. This was founded on the fear and respect of the gods, as well as on a traditional cult practice that was supposed to guarantee the divine protection necessary for the survival of the community.Este trabajo analiza la forma en que la piedad socrática y sus ideas religiosas, en un contexto histórico hostil al filósofo, se enfrentaban con la piedad popular y las creencias religiosas de la polis.
