Sumario:[EN] The church of the Escuelas Pias (1767-1771) is the most representative example of the vernacular classicism that Valencia lived at the last third of the 18th century. The project and construction of this huge decagonal building covered with a large 24.85 meters dome on drum, have been notably influenced by san carlos royal academy of Valencia. It is known that its design took two roman references as a clear starting point: the Pantheon of Agrippa and the nymphaeum of the Horti liciniani . This contribution opens up new fields of study by providing new information on these and other posible influences that could have conditioned the design and construction, with special attention to the technical solution of the dome.
