Sumario:The present article reveals the importance of the military operations in Castile during the War of Spanish Succesion across the sieges and conquests that a city as Cuenca located in a border territory with the kingdoms of the Crown of Aragon and the strategic value meaning for both contenders. Both assaults of the Archduke Carlos´s armies in Castile during the year 1706 and 1710 faced the Bourbon resistance supported by the majority of the Castilian population. Finally the archduke was forced to leave Castile and with it, the throne of Spain
