| Sumario: | [EN]The Iberian and Balearic species of Micromeria were studied taxonomically, incorporating chemical, palynological and karyological data. Six species inhabit the geographic área considered; three of them are found in the Península and five of them are present in the Balearic Islands. The peninsular species are M. fruticosa (L.) Druce, M. inodora (Desf.) Bentham and M. graeca (L.) Bentham ex Reichenb, subsp. graeca. The Balearic species are M. inodora, M. graeca subsp. graeca, M. nervosa (Desf.) Bentham, M. microphylla (Dum. d'Urv.) and M. filiformis (Aiton) Bentham, this last one an endemism of these islands. M. juliana is considered an introduced species which now grows wild in the área around Coimbra. The chromosome number for M. fruticosa has been determinated for the first time (2n = 22). Pollen studies were carried out, which had been lacking previously for several of these species. Scanning electrón micrographs are included. Previously unpublished data on chemical analyses of essential oils present in M. fruticosa, M. inodora, M. graeca and M. filiformis are also presented. Nomenclatural types are chosen for M. fruticosa, M. inodora, M. graeca, M. nervosa and M. juliana. Each species is accompanied by a drawing and a distribution map (UTM projection) with points equivalent to 10 x 10 km quadrats. A provisional list of those species present in North África is provided, and the following new combinations proposed: Micromeria arganietorum (Emberger) R. Morales comb. nov., Micromeria monantha (FontQuer) R. Morales comb. nov., Micromeria peltieri (Maire) R. Morales comb. nov. and Micromeria weilleri (Maire) R. Morales comb. nov. |
