Descripción
Sumario:Francisco Cazallas Hernán was a young Spaniard, born in the town of Viso del Marqués (Ciudad Real), whose life was cut short by the Civil War. In 1938 he was mobilised by the Ejército Popular (the Republic government’s Army) at the age of 19 and joined the Córdoba-Extremadura front. His experience was recorded in an unpublished memoir of 35 typewritten pages. This article analyses his life at the front and his feelings in a war for which he was not overly enthusiastic. It is an individual example that could well serve as a model for the experience of thousands of young Spaniards.
