Descripción
Sumario:[EN] The island of Nisida, located in the heart of the Gulf of Naples, is host to a unique historical heritage treasure: the Tower. This massive circular building is not only an architectural icon but a crucial symbol in the history of fortifications. With its majesty, it stands as a watchtower over the sea, bearing witness to centuries of cultural, defensive and, therefore, architectural changes. In fact, built as part of the defence system of the Kingdom of Naples, the tower has seen the passage of imposing historical events, from Spanish to Neapolitan domination, to its use as a prison during the Italian Resurgence. In the cultural context that influenced the tower's transformations, the analysis of the early iconographic sources, followed by the architectural survey of the 'tracks', acted as indispensable cognitive methodologies of the morphological and stratigraphic complexity of what is still standing today. And also support tools to formulate hypotheses for the reconstruction of the monumental portions that have been lost. The combination of these actions made it possible to connect the past to the present, reminding us of the importance of preserving the defensive heritage for future enhancement.
