Sumario:ABSTRACT: Reading comprehension is the key to the education of children since, through it, they analyze and understand what they read; in addition, they learn to incorporate some words in their conversations and the construction of simple sentences. In this sense, this work had the objective of applying Comic 2.0 as a playful strategy to improve comprehension reading in the students of the Compud Educational Unit located in the Chunchi canton, Compud Parish. From the methodological point of view, it corresponds to research with a quantitative approach and pre-experimental design. The study population consisted of 225 students, of whom we worked with a sample of 37 students who correspond to the secondary education sublevel. The instrument used was a questionnaire adapted from another already published one, which consisted of 10 readings and 27 multiple-choice items. The results show significant differences at the 0.05 confidence level regarding the academic performance of the students who worked with Comic 2.0 (experimental group) compared to those who worked with the readings in a traditional way (control group). As a main conclusion, it can be mentioned that the application of comics 2.0 can be a technological, innovative, and playful tool that helps to improve reading comprehension since, through its images, it allows one to understand and identify the meaning of each text, arousing interest.
