They were analyzed: pH, EC, temperature, STD, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, CO32-, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, B, under APHA/AWWA/WEF. The waters are placed in categories C2 and C3 as salinity, EC / RASorg ratio determines water-S1 class C2 / C3 and C3-S1-S1en phases I and II respectively, leading to the conclusion that the waters of the basin contributing to the channel Cutuchi Salcedo Latacunga Ambato channel are at high risk of salinization. Similarly, it is concluded that water basin Cutuchi contain concentrations of ions corresponding to water Bicarbonate calcium and / or magnesium and due to the proportion of bicarbonates dependent changes in the level and intensity of rainfall generated both during summer and winter.Las aguas de la cuenca del Cutuchi tienen una predominancia bicarbonatada por el pasado geológico del lugar; el objetivo de este trabajo fue caracterizar el comportamiento iónico de las aguas en función de la precipitación pluvial durante los períodos de invierno y verano del 2013; el estudio se ubicó en las coordenadas: UTM (WGS84) Zona 17S X:766806; Y:9867344.Se tomaron 16 muestras por triplicado cada/8 días, en la fase I (enero-marzo) y fase II (julio-agosto). Se analizaron: pH, CE, Temperatura, STD, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, CO32-, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, B, bajo norma APHA/AWWA/WEF. Las aguas se ubican en las categorías C2 y C3 Como salinidad, la relación CE/RASorg determina aguas de clase C2-S1/C3-S1 y C3-S1 en fases I y II respectivamente, lo que permite concluir que las aguas de la cuenca del Cutuchi que aportan al canal Latacunga Salcedo Ambato se encuentran en riesgo alto de salinización.
