Taking on this premise, this text proposes the following thesis: the production of knowledge in the social-historical sciences is traversed by the same contradictions and limits inherent to the functioning of the capitalist economy.El conocimiento científico en general y el de las ciencias histórico-sociales en particular se encuentra fatalmente determinado por las leyes del mercado, no solo por su articulación a la gran industria, sino, sobre todo, porque su forma de producción es la misma de la producción mercantil.
