Sumario:Prison detention centers are institutions that depend on the State, have as a central objective the rehabilitation of people who are interned in that space. However, this objective is not always achieved, on the contrary, observes that the majority of inmates who achieve their freedom are far from having achieved his rehabilitation. It is known that there are two fundamental aspects that intervene in the care process for persons deprived of liberty, in the first place, the social policies that apply to Latin American countries, and then the management of prison systems. Both aspects delineate the effectiveness of penitentiary centers and the fulfillment of the functions that sustain their existence as an institution, which is the rehabilitation and subsequent insertion in the social system of lawbreakers. That is why the inefficiency of the State and the precariousness of prison spaces has generated a state of crisis in permanent increase. Within the legal regulations of each country there are rights and guarantees for population in prison, however, the vast majority do not reach be done properly.
