| Sumario: | The purpose that guided the research was to determine the factors that affect the operation of the Institutional Curriculum Education Project of the Unit "Monseñor Alberto Zambrano Palacios" Olmedo Canton, Province of Loja, in the 2009-2010 school year. In the development of research methods, were used: the inductive, deductive, analytical, synthetic, and comparative method, which permitted to process and interpret information, identify conclusions and propose alternative guidelines that gives us an answer to the problems investigated. Based on this, the results that were obtained as the most significant factors are: the construction of institutional curriculum project does not meet the characteristics of being inclusive and participatory, dynamic and continuous, open and flexible, perfectible, viable, more than that has not been validated and approved by all the actors of the institution, causing motivation and less empowerment on it. It is also noteworthy that internally the Institutional Curriculum Project is not known for all teachers, and the head of the institution has not developed efforts for implementation and monitoring, so the teacher does his job in the classroom under his Personal opinion. Based on the conclusions of the investigation is proposed as alternative guidelines the project entitled "Redesign and Participatory Construction of the Institutional Curriculum Project," which is a response to the problems identified in the area of curriculum planning and institutional development, and responds to the requirements of the educational processes of the Educational Unit "Monseñor Alberto Zambrano Palacios".
