Sumario:This study evaluates the impact that current harmonics generate in single-phase distribution transformers of 10, 15, 25 and 37.5 kVA, based on a data base of energy quality measurements for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015, Which were carried out by the Regional Electrical Company of South S. A and delivered to carry out this study for educational purposes, being this base the starting point of the research. Current harmonics according to reviewed technical literature are those that generate an increase in energy losses and reduced capacity of transformers due to the high levels of non-linear currents caused by electronic loads. To establish the characteristic harmonic spectrum, methods and models were used aimed at seeking a typical harmonic behavior in the transformer, using mathematical tools employed in Matlab software, specifically mathematical tools, clustering analysis utilizing the FUZZY c-MEANS and k -MEANS techniques as well as a graphic dendrogram analysis. These techniques permitted the assessment of harmonic behavior in a time intervals and to establish its membership coefficient. To evaluate all monitored transformers with a characteristic harmonic spectrum, an analytical calculation model was proposed considering the technical recommendations put forward by the ANSI / IEEE C57.110 standard, determining the reduction of capacity and the allowable current of the transformer with respect to non-linear charges assuring that the highest losses do not exceed the value of the losses for which the transformer was designed considering that the transformer operates under normal conditions. The actual capacity that can be withstand and work each of the transformers of 10kVA 15 kVA 25 kVA and 37.5 kVA, will be 9.28 kVA, 13.91 kVA, 23.79 kVA and 34.60 kVA respectively.
