The mask dances were held in squares, theaters, ball rooms, hotels, private houses, etc. while the flower parades which constitute the end of the festivities were done on streets and balconies, these stages served for special battles with flowers and paper ribbons. The main characters of this feast were people in disguises, men and women of every age and social conditions were worn typical and foreign dresses or fantasy customs creating a cheerful environment, which capture the attention of the audience that expressed the ingenuity of people from Quito.Entre el 28 de diciembre y 6 de enero se realizaba en Quito la fiesta de Inocentes. Eran diez días en los que la ciudad se dejaba llevar por el humor y la alegría y sus habitantes no dudaban en participar en actividades públicas y privadas, entre las cuales se destacaban los bailes de máscaras y el corso de flores. Los primeros se desarrollaban en plazas, teatros, salones, hoteles, casas particulares, etc. mientras, el segundo, que constituía la culminaciónde los festejos, se apropiaba de las calles y los balcones, escenarios que servían para una sin igual batalla de flores y serpentinas.
