Descripción
Sumario:The transformations of the role of public space have evolved, converting its uses and activities on a par with society and its socio-cultural synergies. This research focused on analyzing whether the heritage parks of the city of Riobamba generated social cohesion and socio-economic development among its inhabitants. The study is qualitative, explanatory, descriptive, documentary, and field. Within the framework of this research, it is concluded that in the imagination of the citizens, the importance and belonging of heritage parks are present. They consider themselves as part of history and represent the city's life. However, with modernity, they have become spaces of varied uses, heterogeneous like being places of meeting, recreation, exchange, and communication; coincident concepts that do not highlight social cohesion and citizen participation. Guidelines and criteria are proposed to strengthen social cohesion, linked to cultural tourism as a generator of social and economic development.
