In the second place, the role that the Island of the States can exercise as a platform of projection to Malvinas and Antarctica. Finally, we discuss future-oriented facts that point to a clear scenario of competition for the white continent in the coming decades. We present an analysis of descriptive and explanatory type, with a qualitative approach, based on the revision of bibliographic sources, official documents and journalistic articles. We conclude that Argentine is very far to maintain full sovereignty and a truly effective national territory over the map that the country presents and defines as bicontinental.

Se parte de la influencia de los grandes poderes sobre ese espacio marítimo, para reflexionar luego sobre el rol que puede ejercer la Isla de los Estados como plataforma de proyección a Malvinas y la Antártida. Por último, se abordan los hechos portadores de futuro que advierten un claro escenario de competencia por el continente blanco, de cara a las próximas décadas. Se presenta un análisis cualitativo, de tipo descriptivo y explicativo, basado en la revisión de fuentes bibliográficas, documentos oficiales de Estado y artículos periodísticos. Se concluye que Argentina está muy lejos de mantener soberanía plena y un verdadero territorio nacional efectivo sobre el mapa que presenta y define como bicontinental.Este artigo analisa o cenário estratégico do Atlântico Sudoeste como uma área de conflitos atuais e potenciais que a República Argentina deve enfrentar. Para isso, começaremos por nos referir à influência das grandes potências neste espaço marítimo, passando ao papel que a Ilha dos Estados pode desempenhar como plataforma de projeção para Malvinas e Antártida, e terminaremos abordando fatos orientados para o futuro que apontam para um cenário claro de competição para o continente branco nas próximas décadas. Para alcançar este objetivo, avançaremos numa análise descritiva e explicativa, com uma abordagem qualitativa, baseada na coleta de fontes bibliográficas, documentos oficiais do Estado e artigos jornalísticos.
