Sumario:Throughout history, wastewater has been dumped into bodies of water without treatment, the consequence is damage to the body that receives it and serious environmental consequences to natural resources and the adjacent population. It is the responsibility of the authorities to control the wastewater discharges to water sources, this research aims to evaluate the efficiency for the repowering of the Pelileo Municipal Camal Wastewater Treatment Plant. For this, a qualitative and quantitative approach methodology was used, of the descriptive type that allowed identifying the operating situation of the wastewater treatment plant, a characterization of water was carried out by taking samples of it at the discharge point of the treated water, a chain of custody was maintained to preserve the integrity of the samples. The results showed that the wastewater upon entering the plant had a high amount of solids, fats and oils, however, at the exit from the treatment the amount of these elements was highly reduced, but the pH of the water was slightly acid. The main operating problem is the configuration of the activated sludge system is not ideal, so a reconfiguration of the plant's wastewater treatment system was proposed. It is concluded that the treatment plant, having been in operation for no more than 5 years, does not require major changes to its equipment and facilities.
