This research has a social relevance because of its prevalence in our community that constitutes a public health problem and it is precisely with the family doctor and health team follow-up, they can value and dispensarize all those individuals with risk factors for Monitoring, control and execution of educational, promotional, prevention and rehabilitation activities. The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the effect of the integral intervention in the adherence to the treatment and the level of knowledge on hypertension in hypertension. We performed a quantitative research with a pure experimental design with pretest, posttest and a control group in hypertensive patients aged 45 years and older belonging to the nesting center Santa Teresita in the city of Santa Rosa province of El Oro, in 2016. The sample was selected in a non-probabilistic manner consisting of 100 patients, 50 patients for the control group and 50 patients for the intervention group. Adherence to treatment in hypertensive patients before the intervention was 80%, compared to 88%, which reached adherence after the intervention in the same group, with a P value of <0.005. The level of knowledge about AHT before the intervention only 56% had a high degree of knowledge, after applying the experiment was reached 98% with a value of P <0.005. The intervention was effective both in adherence to treatment as in the level of knowledge about HT Key words: Hypertension, adherence to treatment, level of knowledge, adults.

El comportamiento de adherencia a los tratamientos es uno de los indicadores más importantes a evaluar en las personas con factores de riesgo para la salud cardiovascular, ya que la no adherencia conduce a mantener altos índices de morbimortalidad. Esta investigación tiene una relevancia social por su alta prevalencia en nuestra comunidad que constituye un problema de salud pública, y es precisamente con el seguimiento del Médico de Familia y el equipo de salud, los mismos que pueden valorar y dispensarizar a todos aquellos individuos con factores de riesgo para su seguimiento, control y ejecución de acciones educativas, de promoción, prevención y rehabilitación. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar el efecto de la intervención integral en la adherencia al tratamiento y el nivel de conocimientos sobre HTA en adultos hipertensos. Se realizó una investigación cuantitativa con un diseño experimental puro con pre-prueba, post-prueba y grupo control en pacientes hipertensos de 45 años en adelante que pertenecen al Centro Anidado Santa Teresita de la ciudad de Santa Rosa, provincia de El Oro, durante el año 2016. La muestra fue seleccionada de manera no probabilística conformada por 100 pacientes, 50 pacientes para grupo control y 50 pacientes para grupo de intervención. La adherencia al tratamiento en pacientes hipertensos antes de la intervención fue del 80%, frente a un 88% que alcanzó adherencia después de la intervención en el mismo grupo, con un valor de p < 0,05. El nivel de conocimiento sobre HTA antes de la intervención fue del 56%, en alto grado de conocimiento, luego de aplicar el experimento se alcanzó un 98% con un valor de p<0,05. La intervención fue efectiva tanto en adherencia al tratamiento como en el nivel de conocimiento sobre HTA.
