The resulting analysis -written from a detailed literature review and discussion with experts within the field-, will be useful for the understanding of the role that the professionals within the field play in the management and administration of agricultural machinery, as well as in the learning process. Finally, it is concluded that the agricultural machinery management is an important field of action for the Agricultural Engineer, so that it demands training for the selection and planning, as well as in the estimation of costs and yields.A partir de la revisión de diferentes fuentes y la normativa legal vigente, este artículo aborda la problemática de la Mecanización Agrícola como campo de acción profesional de la Ingeniería Agronómica, sus características y exigencias para las condiciones de Ecuador. El documento resultante, elaborado en base a la revisión y la discusión entre expertos del sector, será útil para la comprensión del papel que juegan los profesionales del sector durante el manejo, gestión y administración de la maquinaria agropecuaria, así como durante el desarrollo del proceso docente educativo.
