| Sumario: | ABSTRACT The investigation: "Methodological Strategy for the development of Linguistic Awareness in the students of the National Educational Community Intercultural Bilingual “Nación Puruhá” from the canton Guamote, province of Chimborazo" emerges from the need of promote the reading ability of students in the second and third year of basic general education, which present a low performance characterized by ignorance of basic syntactic components, message defragmentation and an insufficient phonological decoding. Considering that reading is the scaffolding from which teaching is configured, its defaults imply a decrease in the academic performance. Therefore, its primary objective was the improvement of language skills medium the development of linguistic awareness in second- and third-year elementary students of the selected institution. For this purpose, the skills associated with linguistic awareness possessed by the students of the chosen grades were identified by means of a diagnostic test; and based on these results, a proposal of methodological strategies was designed, applying the methodological strategies designed through activities included in the curriculum for the development of the components of linguistic awareness. The research is descriptive, bibliographic, off-campus, quasi-experimental, followed a quantitative approach, studied with a sample made up of 14 second-year EGB students and 15 third-year EGB students to whom a test and an observation sheet were applied. It was concluded that, given the difficulties of the students, the methodological strategies that include the exercise of orality and writing are valuable, relying on specific materials, since observation, manipulation and discovery exercise various cognitive operations.
