Sumario:The sustainable management of forests is closely related to the mastery of the climatic conditions in which they are developed, which allows for timely decisions to be made in accordance with their requirements. In the last thirty years, these conditions have undergone changes that have altered the normal evolution of forest productions in general, which has generated: the manifestation of droughts, floods, pest attacks, with the reduction of wood production as a consequence of these flagella. In this investigation the favorable agroclimatic conditions for Tectona grandis L. f. in the province of Los Ríos through the climatic requirements of this species at air temperatures and rainfall. The favorable periods and the ideal areas were determined based on the agroclimatic conditions for the Tectona grandis L. f. Plantations, which is supported by statisticians and geographic information systems. AgroclimMap, a software that develops maps of thermal and rainfall conditions for Tectona grandis L. f. and that, through algebraic operations, it evaluates the favorable conditions detailing the regions in Favorable, Moderately Favorable and Not favorable. Towards the North of the province the highest values of the sum of annual and monthly precipitations result. The most favored sectors are Valencia, Valencia N, Buena Fe, Los Ángeles and Patricia Pilar. The sectors that are grouped under the least favorable conditions are: Urdaneta, Vinces, Montalvo and Baba. The thermal conditions characterized by average temperatures find their highest values towards the North of the province, where they reach values higher than 24.5 ° C. 70.9% of the province presented favorable conditions for the development of Tectona grandis L. f. in relation to the combined values of the hydric and thermal requirements. Unfavorable conditions are not present in the territory. It is recommended to extend similar studies to other provinces dedicated to the exploitation of forest areas. Key word: weather, climate, agroclimatic conditions, drought manifestations, forest plantations.
