La auto-lesión es definida como la destrucción o alteración, directa y deliberada, de los tejidos del propio cuerpo, sin la consciencia de querer cometer suicidio. Un grupo de 21 alumnos adolecentes de nivel escolar Bachillerato pertenecientes a la Unidad Educativa Velasco Ibarra del cantón Buena Fe, ubicada en la provincia de Los Ríos, fueron remitidos por los tutores de curso al Departamento de consejería estudiantil por presentar conductas autolesivas reflejadas principalmente por marcas en sus antebrazos provocadas por objetos corto punzantes. El departamento de consejería estudiantil no cuenta con datos que caractericen a esta población ni con recursos terapéuticos ajustados a esta problemática. Objetivos. Dado lo anterior se diseñó un estudio cuantitativo transversal con el objetivo de describir los factores psicosociales de esos adolescentes, identificando sus datos demográficos y del proceso de autolesión, explorando su personalidad, depresión y ansiedad y las relaciones sociales, educativas y familiares. Metodología. Se aplicaron entrevistas a los adolescentes y tutores de curso, el inventario de personalidad Cornell Index, IDARE para ansiedad, IDERE para depresión y el test de funcionamiento familiar. Resultados. Existió un dominio del sexo femenino, familias disfuncionales y reensambladas, “Temores y mala adaptación”, “Depresión” y “Sentimientos de inferioridad” resultaron preocupantes como características personológicas, la depresión como estado resultó alta, los pades de los alumnos no se preocupan por el desarrollo escolar, la relación con sus pares escolares fue regular y las principales causas de la autolesión resultaron ser, control de impulsos, seguido por la expresión de necesidades y búsqueda de afecto, y por último agradar y quedar bien con el grupo de amigosBackground.
