| Sumario: | The land dispute or so called “conflicto del campo” that took place in Argentina in 2008 lead to a situation of confrontation between the national government and the country’s main agricultural corporations. The Clarín journal covered this case extensively, and its news reporting can be tackled from various viewpoints. This article specifically analyzes the relationship this morning paper initiated with its informational sources during the most critical months following the controversy unleashed between the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration and the Pampean agricultural community (March-July 2008). The conceptual base of this study is the Indexing Theory. This article enquires whether or not the treatment the Clarín gave to both official and unofficial sources might be explained by this theory. |
