Summary:In recent decades, studies on gender-based violence have proliferated in academia from different disciplines, such as medicine, psychology, economics, sociology and law. Given that the phenomenon of gender violence involves variables such as social class, ethnicity, age, among others, the execution of public policies, elaboration of protocols and the development of actions to face it are before a complex reality. This work deals with an analysis of gender violence exerted on women who endure catastrophic illnesses, with emphasis on their characteristics, contexts and particular realities.
