Sumario:Thirsted was conducted in the Maintenance Department of the Provincial General Teaching Hospital in Riobamba, aiming to determine the prevalence of hearing loss induced by noise (NIHL) by its acronym in English (Noise Induced Hearing Loss), the public servants who are exposed to noise in the roundhouse For this study were required measurements of noise in the workplace such as dosimeter measurements in broadband and octave band and audiometry The analysis of the measurements resulted under current regulations and noise levels exceeding permissible limits necessitating the implementation of control measures and mitigation in specific areas of work The present study aims at implementing a cabin acoustic insulation in the engine room as a preventive occupational hygiene, based on the fact that noise causes of occupational diseases as stated in the resolution D.C. IESS 390 The implementation of the cabin is given after a technical diagnosis of hearing loss doctor on staff and will be reinforced with inductions: good labor practices, risk factors, control methods and protocols Occupational Safety and Health. At the end of the study it determined that 100% of servers has some type of NIHL due to the conditions in the working environment in which they have been developing their work and knowing this risk the implementation of the cabin acoustic insulation is proposed as a means significant noise attenuation as a means of mitigating this risk factor.
