| Sumario: | This article analyzes the recent transformations in the city of Encarnación, Paraguay, as results of the supplementary constructions the hydroelectric dam Yacyretá, and its urban development program. It is argued that there is a change in the patterns of occupation of urban land, not only by the growth of the reservoir in the Paraná river and their subsequent relocation activities, but also because of the advent of new processes of urban renovation derived from high quality urban public works projects. This change has used a speech related to urban development which had spatial implications along the waterfront, suggesting some discontinuity with the previous urban order. |
