Descripción
Sumario:The article looks for explanations for the overthrows of three Ecuadorian presidents, which have marked the culminating points of a decade of instability. It analyses into the field of the social mobilizations that preceded each one of those facts, with special reference to its social composition and the objectives of its members. In the final part, some hypotheses are set out about the mobilization against Gutiérrez’ government. It suggests that explanations of racism and clasism are not valid. Rather, it connects the explanation to the sprouting of democratic vindications originated so much in the low yields of the political system like in the dictatorial character of the last government.
