The Spanish religious also used the language of the Incas on their theater of evangelization; they translated Spanish works into Quechua and presented them to the natives. They thus used theater as an educational instrument and to diffuse the values of the Spanish Empire. The Quechua language was then used by Peruvian playwrights to create original plays, a true stylistic and cultural mixture of the Spanish and inca civilizations. We shall try to see what the peculiarities of these works and their real and supposed objectives were. Finally, we shall present the impact which they had on the colonial population and the authorities.En este artículo la autora examina de qué manera la lengua quechua fue utilizada en las artes, y particularmente en el arte dramático, a lo largo del período colonial. Se concentra en su utilización por el clero español y en las razones de tal utilización. Veremos que el conocimiento del quechua, o runasimi fue una necesidad para las autoridades coloniales, sobre todo para poder transmitir a los indígenas las bases de la religión católica. Los religiosos españoles emplearon también la lengua de los Incas en su teatro de evangelización; tradujeron las obras castellanas al quechua y las dieron a representar a los indígenas. Se sirvieron pues del teatro como de un instrumento pedagógico y de difusión de los valores del Imperio español. La lengua quechua fue después utilizada por dramaturgos peruanos para crear obras teatrales originales, verdadera mezcla estilística y cultural de las civilizaciones española e incaica. Trataremos de ver cuáles fueron las particularidades de esas obras y sus objetivos reales y supuestos.
