Sumario:The objective of this applied study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Task-Based Learning model in improving reading proficiency in English students in an online environment. The study began by determining the theoretical foundation where the characteristics of the proposed learning model were described in detail. Being of a quasi-experimental design, the study subjects were 36 A2 level students from the Language Center of the Instituto Superior Universitario Sucre in the city of Quito, who formed the experimental and control group through convenience sampling. The researcher applied ten reading lesson plans based on the Task Based Learning model with the experimental group, and the traditional teaching method with the control group.
