Sumario:Reproductive problems in the Ecuadorian Amazon are conditioned by several factors, such as environmental conditions, lack of energy in the diet, the type of irregular geography, the artificial insemination technique that is performed without taking into account the state of the endometrium, that influence negatively to not achieve an efficient reproduction. The objective of this research is to determine the prevalence of subclinical endometritis using Cytobrush in the postgraduate research bovine herd in the Amazon region. 48 cows were selected, in optimal reproductive conditions, and the Cytobrush technique was performed, which consists of making a superficial scraping of the uterine endometrium with an artificial insemination gun adapted for this purpose, to determine the presence of inflammatory cells (polymorphonuclear neutrophils). , the cytological samples obtained in this way were observed for analysis under a microscope at 40X and 100X magnification, counting a minimum of 200 total cells (epithelial cells and inflammatory cells), from which the percentage of inflammatory cells was determined. , which will be indicative of the presence of subclinical endometritis. The cytological samples were carried out periodically from 2014 to 2019. Concluding, that the bovine herd presents a prevalence of 7,813% of subclinical endometritis that affected its reproductive efficiency, in addition to considering that the Cytobrush technique (endometrial cytology), is a technique simple, practical and very reliable for the specific diagnosis of endometritis, which can be easily used in regular field work.
