Resumo:The identification study the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a ten year period, using the Finnish test " FINDRISC " on the staff of workers and employees of Isidro Ayora Hospital of Loja in the period March-November 2013, performed using prospective, descriptive study whose objectives were, to determine the risk of type 2 diabetes in relation to sex, age, BMI and waist circumference; know the risk according to physical activity, consumption of vegetables and fruit, use antihypertensive medication, finding of elevated glucose and family history of diabetes; applying the survey FINDRISC 169 employees and workers Hospital Isidro Ayora Loja of March to November 2013. The following results and conclusions were obtained: in the research group identified 36 respondents with moderate, high, very high risk (>14puntos ) of developing type 2 diabetes, which correspond to the group aged 45 to 64 years, having significant relationship p < 0.05, indicating that age is an indicator that contributes to the development of diabetes. Other factors demonstrated the association of risk with family history of type 2 DM , taking antihypertensive medication, history of high glucose, waist circumference and BMI due to the value of p < 0.05. It was found that sex, physical activity and consumption of fruits, vegetables and whole grain bread, proves to be determinant in the risk of developing the disease as value of p >0.05 .
