| Sumario: | Reading is an activity closely linked to learning, according to the data obtained from international tests such as PISA and ERCE applied before the COVID-19 pandemic, it was evidenced that there have been no significant advances in the teaching of students, especially in the field of reading comprehension, in which our country, in relation to others in Latin America and the Caribbean, obtains academic achievements at a literal level of comprehension, pending the development of thinking skills at the inferential and criticalevaluative level, necessary to solve reading problems. daily life and transform contexts. The objective of this research work was to evaluate the inferential level of reading comprehension of the students of the Bilingual Intercultural Community Educational Center "Luis Ulpiano De La Torre" period 2021-2022, of the Cotama community, San Luis parish of the Otavalo canton, province from Imbabura; for which, an adaptation of the Watson and Glaser test was applied, whose results allowed guiding the implementation of an institutional reading plan to improve text comprehension. The study had a quantitative, descriptive, crosssectional, and correlational approach. It is concluded that the subjects under study have not reached the inferential level of reading comprehension regardless of age and ethnicity, in addition that in relation to gender there are differences between men and women. |
