Sumario:The purpose of this research is to carry out a historical and artistic study of the Cotocollao yumbada, which has its roots in the pre-Hispanic era and remains in force, although with variations such as a ritual of gratitude to nature for everything received, as well as the search for healing through the energy that the yumbos possess, the same that is acquired by the mountains and mother earth. The research has a qualitative approach, with the use of primary sources such as interview and observation and secondary sources such as texts, reports, research that allowed a clear and real vision of the before and after the Yumbada de Cotocollao and its contribution as heritage. intangible culture in the north of the Metropolitan District of Quito. That is why, conducting the study, allows us to understand this cultural manifestation that is not so recognized by the population, through the historical investigation of the yumbada of Cotocollao, in time.
