| Sumario: | "The reading comprehension is one of the most important skills that a student in Basic General Education (EGB) must develop, achieving its mastery will allow him to easily assume the subsequent educational process and facilitate the acquisition of new knowledge, however, the level of reading comprehension achieved by students at this level is not adequate. In this context, the following research work is presented, which aims to apply methodological reading strategies for the development of reading comprehension in sixth-year EGB children from the Intercultural Bilingual Educational Unit "Hualcopo Duchicela". For this purpose, a quantitative methodological approach was used, with a quasi-experimental design and a descriptive-propositional, cross-sectional, and field research type. An inquiry was carried out with seven teachers to know their criteria on the reading comprehension methodology and a survey of 30 students to determine their perception of their reading comprehension abilities. A diagnostic rubric was applied, indicating a medium level of reading comprehension. The results obtained allowed the development of methodological reading strategies to be proposed, which were applied and validated with a second application of the rubric, finding important differences between the two evaluations, thus establishing the validity of the proposed methodological strategies in the educational instrument. In this sense, it is recommended to integrate this methodology to promote reading comprehension and to develop teachers' skills for better teaching and obtain better results in different learning areas."
