Description
Summary:This paper is the design of a solar water heater with solar energy; this is a team that uses solar radiation to increase the temperature of substances, such as water, oil, brine, glycol or air. The most common use of solar heater is heating water for pools or bathrooms (showers, laundry or dishes etc.) both in domestic, commercial and industries environments. The solar water heater using energy for domestic consumption, as an alternative for replacing traditional heaters, as water heater that use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), thermostats and showers that use conventional energy. This device was instaled in “The Bosque” neighborhood on Latacunga city; it is a good option if it considers the low temperatures necessary (from 40ºC to 60ºC). Solar systems for water heating are composed of two main elements: The collector, responsible for receiving and transforming the incident solar radiation energy during and insulated storage tank to keep the temperature and supply hot water during the day and also keep the same night. Data collection and information analysis to energy potential was executed for three months for subsequent interpretation of results. The design parameters are based on the water amount and the time it takes to use hot water for sanitary use in the family. The prototype design using solar energy water heater temperatures ranges (from 40oC to 96oC) and an efficiency of 84% thus enjoying greater system reliability was obtained. With the application of this technique and equipment can be dispensed with conventional energy for heating water for sanitary use in the home, improving the quality of life while reducing consumption of fossil fuels.
