Resumo:In Latin American countries like Ecuador patriarchal culture is the base for normalization of gender violence, thus the typification of norms in favor of women is the first step that the States take to recognize that violence against women is sructural and social context. Feminism and social struggle have managed to visualize the problem, and they have forced States to seek for mechanisms to make visible and raise awareness about the gap of discrimination and inequality, but above all about the wave of violence against women. The inclusion of criminal types does not change cultural patterns like the patriarchy, however, this criminal type should be used as an opportunity for debate, information and the formation of Ecuadorian society. To deny the existence of the norm is to deny the latent reality of discrimination against women.
