| Sumario: | Child abuse is an aspect of the grave intra-family violence, which makes diversities of harm to the child’s health, affecting his/her physical, emotional and social development, upsetting the future adult life; however, its real prevalence is unknown now adays, because most of the cases are nor diagnosed. So, when there is a child’s violent death, besides finding its causes and circumstances, it is essential to determine if we are in the presence of child’s abuse. In this investigation, a series of three cases of children who were victims of recurring intra-family violence is presented, having as form of expression the physical battering, who had received medical assistance due to traumatic injuries in different parts of their bodies without being diagnosed as victims of child’s abuse and its recurrence took them to die in later similar incidents. This article must be an educational awareness to increase the preparation of health professionals about the topic, since detecting and identifying it depend on their knowledge and abilities, because it is not common of child’s abuse to be a reason for consultation and its diagnosis requires a medical act of suspicion, what allows us to confirm that the action of the health services is fundamental for it to be detected, reported on time, and the necessary measures be taken to avoid the sequelae and mortality due to this cause. |
