Resumo:People with disabilities are at risk for depression, which remains a global, local, and family health problem that triggers multiple problems that affect both the individual and their family environment, that is why the following study aims to determine the prevalence of depression in people with disabilities and its relationship with family functionality in the Province of Loja during the year 2016, for which an analytical, cross-sectional, non-experimental study was carried out in the Province of Loja. It results in a prevalence of 82.32% of depression in people with disabilities and 71.8% of family dysfunction in a population of 397 that represent 100% of the population under study. With a statistically significant difference with the economic situation with 57.14% with limits of 35.97 to 78.30 and those with bad economic condition with 83,78% with a limit of 80.05 to 87.50, and With a significant difference in relation to the other age groups and the elderly with a prevalence of depression of 42.86% with limits between 24.19 and 61.52. this analysis of results shows an increased risk in people with disabilities and at the same time they present depression of 0.78 to have dysfunctional families; With an OR value of 1.7 which makes it a risk factor, with a degree of association of phi, V of Cramer of .107 a chi square, with a value of 4.504 with a degree of freedom and a value Of p of 0.034, therefore there is a relationship between depression presented by people with disabilities and family dysfunction.
