| Sumario: | ABSTRACT: A case study was carried out in a second level hospital on work stress and its relationship with the performance of health personnel, since work stress has been considered a public health problem that influences the performance of health personnel. . The purpose of this research was to analyze work stress and its relationship with the performance of health personnel in a hospital. Regarding the methodological framework, the research was quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, documentary and field, and the level of descriptive research. For data collection, the survey technique was applied and the instrument for data collection was the questionnaire. A questionnaire was applied to assess work stress and determine the performance of health professionals (resident doctors and nursing staff), whose population was 25 people. Through the results, it was identified that work stress is negatively related to the performance of the personnel, but it cannot be affirmed with a high level of confidence that this correlation really exists. The proposal was made up of several strategies for the prevention and reduction of work stress and a continuous improvement plan to improve the performance of health personnel.
