The plans and ordinances presented determine the impact on the configuration of these places.Este artículo describe el proceso de expansión urbana de Quito. Para el análisis se consideran los principales acontecimientos que marcaron la realidad actual de Quito. Se examina los hechos concretos que definen el grado de importancia de la capital para los ecuatorianos. Se reconoce la actuación de los gobiernos municipales de turno a través de las políticas públicas y los instrumentos de gestión que fueron construyendo los espacios públicos de ocio dentro de la configuración de la metrópoli.
