Thus a contrast is established between the testimonies of the report Guatemala: Nunca más and those appearing in the novel, to determine the development of themes such as rationality, madness and power through the application of Cultural Studies. En el artículo se analiza el testimonio y la violencia en la novela Insensatez, de Horacio Castellanos, teniendo como objeto de análisis su papel de intelectual como interventor del testimonio, la figura del torturador, los cuerpos violentados y la deshumanización de la comunidad indígena. Se describe e interpreta el contraste entre los testimonios del informe Guatemala: nunca más y los de la novela, para analizar el desarrollo de temas como la racionalidad, la locura y el poder; para ello se parte de algunos fundamentos conceptuales de los denominados Estudios culturales.
