| Resumo: | This article pretends to answer why the party system collapsed in Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. This complex question has a multi-causal answer; however, three assumptions will be developed: i) institutional designs; ii) crisis of political representation and iii) role of the parties in the government. In this context, it can be noticed multiple scenarios, where the conjectures interact.
