Data show a wide variability with respect to fruit characteristics: length (74.50-146.20 mm), width (59.98-116.28 mm), thickness (58.08-104.80 mm), length/width ratio (0.81-2.02), length/thickness ratio (0.90-2.01), width/thickness ratio (0.97-1.21), relative volume (262.33-1287.05 cm3), and percentage of total soluble solids (12.0-20.0 °Brix). This information is useful for mango growers to choose the best cultivar for their particular market purposes.Se evaluaron algunas características del fruto de 46 cultivares de mango (Mangifera indica), en Alajuela, Costa Rica, tanto a nivel cualitativo (dos variables) como cuantitativo (ocho variables). Se hallaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre cultivares, para siete variables cuantitativas. Se obtuvo una amplia variabilidad en cuanto a las características del fruto: longitud (74,50-146,20 mm), ancho (59,98-116,28 mm), grosor (58,08-104,80 mm), relación longitud/ancho (0,81-2,02), relación longitud/grosor (0,90-2,01), relación ancho/grosor (0,97-1,21), volumen relativo (262,33-1287,05 cm3), y porcentaje de sólidos solubles totales (12,0-20,0 °Brix).
